Video chat avenue · one-on-one
One camera on each side, one stranger per match and a next button that never moves. Here is how a ChatVille video chat runs, from the first second to the moment you decide to stay or go.
Online/ 01
A ChatVille video chat is the simplest thing the site does, and the thing most people come for. You press start with your camera on, and within a few moments one other person appears in the frame. It is a live, two-way call: you see them, they see you, and nobody else is watching from the side.
People who knew the original ChatVille sometimes expect a wall of webcams they can flick between. This ChatVille does not work that way. A match holds exactly two people, so neither of you is splitting your focus with anyone else. That single rule changes the mood of a late-night chat more than any feature could.

The moment a match connects, a small card fades in over the video. On it: the stranger’s self-picked nickname, how old they are, which country they are calling from, what they speak, and how far along ChatVille they have come (their level). You get a second to read it before anyone has to speak, which takes a lot of the awkwardness out of the opening.
Then it is just a conversation. A wave and a hello is enough, and a question about their evening usually beats a line you rehearsed. Mismatched languages are no dead end: type a sentence and hit the translate button sitting beside each typed message.
/ 03
Most bad first impressions on video chat are technical, not personal. Light coming from behind leaves you as a dark cut-out; a laptop resting on your lap mostly broadcasts your chin. Sit facing your light source, put the camera at eye level and leave a little space above your head in the frame.
Sound matters as much as the picture. Earphones kill the echo of your speaker leaking into the mic, and keep the stranger’s half of the chat out of earshot of anyone else at home. Close tabs that are streaming video, because they compete for the same connection your call needs.
Night noteCheck what is behind you before you start. Mail, ID cards and windows with a street view tell strangers more than you meant to share.
/ 04
Random video chat only works because leaving is easy. If a match goes quiet, feels off or simply is not your kind of conversation, tap next and ChatVille connects you with somebody else. Nobody is owed a long goodbye, and the other person will be matched again just as quickly.
There is one situation where next is not enough. If someone breaks the house rules, use the report button inside the call first, then move on. A report sends the session to the moderators, and it is the fastest way to keep the same person from spoiling someone else’s night. The safety guide explains what happens after you report.

ChatVille is built around video, but it is not video-only. Switch to voice before pressing start and the camera stays dark while you talk; switch to text and the whole match happens on the keyboard. The matching works the same way in all three modes, and you can pick a different one each time.
Plenty of people use voice or text as a warm-up. They trade a few lines with a stranger, get comfortable with how ChatVille feels, and switch the camera on for a later match. If that sounds like you, the city map shows exactly where the mode switch sits.

Chance rarely sends the same stranger your way twice. If someone was genuinely good company, follow them from their profile before you tap next. That opens a door to messaging later, or to ringing that exact person for a private call from the online list.
Your opening random matches cost nothing; private calls and a couple of extras are paid in coins. The free entry page breaks down which parts cost nothing, how the Reward Center tops you up, and where coins come in.

No. ChatVille never shows a grid of cams; each video chat pairs you with a single stranger and nobody else.
Your nickname, age, country, language and level appear on a small card when the match connects, plus whatever your camera shows. Your email and surname are never shown.
Pick voice or text before you press start to keep the camera off for that match. Those modes use the same matching as video.
Use the report button inside the call if a rule is broken, then tap next. You never need to explain yourself before leaving.
Ordinary calls are not routinely recorded. If a session is reported, moderators may review material tied to it, such as still frames or typed messages.
Usually the light is behind you. Face a lamp or window, raise the camera to eye level and close other tabs that are streaming video.
Follow them from their profile before you leave the match. You can message them later or start a private call from the online list.
Your first random matches are free and need no card. Private calls with a chosen person and some extras use coins.
Camera ready?
The stranger on the other side is probably just as curious as you are. Press start and find out who is awake.
